Dancing in the Rain

ree

This poster was created on a rainy day —after staring out the window for a long, quiet moment.

In the end, I changed everything:the background, the color of the dress, even the direction of the raindrops. And in the process,my computer froze three times. 😅

At first, I thought,“Let’s make it look more Chinese.” Traditional architecture, a red qipao, a wash of ink painting in the background. But it turned out too traditional —like something you’d see on a museum poster.

So I added rain,a hint of wind, and softened the light. And at that moment, she came alive.(…with hands that somehow look like she’s doing Tang Lang Quan, by the way -_-++)

The theme of the DBGP 2026 China Poster is“Strength in stillness, grace in the rain.”

She doesn’t smile. There’s no grand gesture.Yet in her lifted gaze, you can feel a quiet conversation with the sky.

Her red dress, soaked with rain —her toes, unwavering on the slippery ground. That’s the kind of calm strengthonly a dancer possesses.

Honestly, this piece took longer than I expected.I wanted to capture that emotion —the feeling of “no matter how hard it rains, the dance must go on.”

As I adjusted the light, and shifted the shadows,it started to feel like I was dancing in the rain myself.

And when I finally pressed the save button,I thought of all the dancerswho cry and smile on stage at the same time.Just like her, they too keep dancing — even in the rain. ☔
